Responsibilities

  • Execute sea import shipments on time under supervision, according to customer requirements, ensuring customer satisfaction, while complying with local legal requirements and the company's procedures and objectives.
  • Ensure consolidation and shipping are registered in EDI / Operational System.
  • Provide complete and necessary information to internal/external suppliers to efficiently arrange pickup appointments.
  • Verify that, if the cargo is hazardous, systems and documents are fully correct, and notify all relevant parties of the hazardous nature.
  • Provide customers with pickup and delivery information and respond promptly to their (internal/external) needs.
  • Send booking confirmations to the sender/supplier as needed.
  • Ensure all required documents from the supplier are received and, if necessary, scanned into EDI.
  • Confirm that the shipment is onboard and track the cargo, reporting any missing or delayed shipments to stakeholders.
  • Resolve issues as quickly and efficiently as possible, while reporting any deviations and customer complaints as SERs to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain contact with foreign agents or network offices regarding any delays or problems.
  • Consult with supervisors and colleagues about matters and keep them informed when necessary.
  • Send pre-alerts to the foreign office/agent in accordance with global company objectives (within 5 days after sailing).
  • Correctly archive completed orders.
  • Adhere to company procedures regarding workplace health and safety.

 

Skills required

  • Basic knowledge of import sea freight operations
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of accuracy
  • Highly motivated
  • Enjoy working in a team
  • Good command of Dutch, French, and English
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, preferably experience with Cargosoft/EDI
  • Cargowise certification (operator, specialist, professional)
